# Read 250 Minutes

“Fill your mind as America fills its years.”

250 minutes

## About This Challenge

Reading is one of the most powerful acts of self-improvement you can make. In the year America turns 250, challenge yourself to read for 250 minutes — history, biography, literary fiction, or anything that enriches and expands your mind. The time doesn't have to come from a single book; let it accumulate across whatever calls to you this summer.

The Snowflake Public Library is your greatest local resource and your best starting point. A librarian can help you find something that genuinely inspires you — whether that's a gripping novel, a biography of a Founding Father, a memoir of American life, or something your kids will love too. You might be surprised what's waiting on the shelves.

This challenge isn't about speed. It's about the habit of turning pages and letting ideas in. Carve out a few quiet minutes each day — morning coffee, a lunch break, before bed — and let the words do their work. By October 10th, you'll have fed your mind something worth keeping.

## How To Complete It

1. 1

Visit the Snowflake Public Library or browse your home bookshelf and choose something that genuinely excites you — if you're not sure where to start, ask a librarian for a recommendation.
2. 2

Keep a simple log as you go — a sticky note on your nightstand, a journal entry, or the notes app on your phone. Record the date, the book, and the pages read.
3. 3

When you finish a book or hit a milestone, return to this page and log your progress. Each entry counts toward your achievement.
4. 4

Share your reading list or a photo of your current book with #SnowflakeTaylor250 — you might inspire someone else to pick up a book too.

### Tips for Success

- ★ Audiobooks count — if traditional reading is hard on your eyes or schedule, listen while you drive, walk, or do chores.
- ★ Challenge your kids to read alongside you. Set a family goal and track pages together on the refrigerator.
- ★ Pick a book about American history or a Founding Father to tie your reading directly to the 250th anniversary theme.
- ★ The Friends of the Library may have reading events, book sales, and personal recommendations — check in with them.
- ★ Libraries let you borrow e-books too — ask about the Libby or OverDrive app for free digital reading on your phone.
