# Pull 250 Weeds

“Clear the clutter. Show the beauty underneath.”

## About This Challenge

A well-kept neighborhood says something about community pride. It signals that the people who live here care about this place — that they notice, that they tend, that they take ownership of their surroundings. Across Snowflake and Taylor, a little collective effort can dramatically improve the look and feel of our towns, one yard at a time.

The weed-pulling challenge is honest, physical, satisfying work. Put on gloves, get your hands in the dirt, and clear 250 weeds from your yard, a neighbor's yard, or a public space that could use some attention. You'll be amazed at the visible difference a few hours of dedicated effort can make — and you'll feel a particular satisfaction that only honest manual labor delivers.

This is a challenge that rewards persistence over speed. A single 20-minute session before the morning heat sets in can easily clear 50 weeds. Spread the effort across a few weeks, and your yard — and your neighborhood — will look noticeably better as we celebrate 250 years of the most beautiful country on earth.

## How To Complete It

1. 1

Put on a pair of sturdy gloves and grab a weeding tool — a hand hoe, a weeding fork, or a soil knife works best for getting down to the roots.
2. 2

Start in your own yard or garden beds where weeds are most visible from the street. Work methodically through one section at a time.
3. 3

Count as you go — a simple tally method in your phone or on a piece of paper works perfectly. Each weed that comes out of the ground counts.
4. 4

If you finish your own yard ahead of schedule, offer to help a neighbor or tackle a section of a local park, church grounds, or community space.
5. 5

Log your total here and share a before-and-after photo of your cleared space with #SnowflakeTaylor250.

### Tips for Success

- ★ Weed when the soil is moist — after rain or after watering — and roots will come out far more easily with much less effort.
- ★ Pull the entire root, not just the stem. Weeds that leave roots behind will regrow quickly and undo your hard work.
- ★ Early morning or evening weeding avoids the brutal Arizona midday heat. Aim for sessions before 9am or after 5pm in summer.
- ★ Get the kids involved and turn it into a counting game. Children who help care for their yard develop genuine pride in where they live.
- ★ Dispose of pulled weeds in yard waste bags — don't pile them nearby or the seeds can blow back and restart the cycle.
