When you log progress, it adds to the community total — not just your own. Together, we can reach this goal! ## About This Challenge Planting is one of the most hopeful acts a person can perform. You put something fragile and full of potential into the ground — and then you trust. You trust the soil, the rain, the sun, and the slow passage of time to do their work. In America's 250th year, that act of hope and trust feels particularly right. Help beautify Snowflake and Taylor by planting 250 plants, flowers, shrubs, or trees and contributing something that will outlast the summer. Plant in your own yard. Donate seedlings to neighbors who might not be able to plant themselves. Join a community planting event if one is organized. Start a vegetable garden and feed your family from your own soil. Every plant counts — annuals, perennials, native shrubs, fruit trees, vegetable seedlings, or transplants. The only requirement is that you put them in the ground with care. Native Arizona plants are hardy, water-efficient, and beautiful — and they're adapted to this climate in ways that non-native plants are not. Ask your local nursery for recommendations.
