When you log progress, it adds to the community total — not just your own. Together, we can reach this goal! ## About This Challenge There is something uniquely stirring about driving through a town where the American flag flies from nearly every home. It says something about the people who live there — that they remember, that they're grateful, that they haven't taken for granted the freedoms that two and a half centuries of sacrifice have secured. This summer, as Snowflake and Taylor celebrate America's 250th birthday, we're asking every household to fly the flag. Hang it from your porch, mount it on a pole in your yard, or display it in your front window. It doesn't have to be fancy — it just has to be there. A visible, daily reminder of what this community stands for and what this anniversary means. Imagine driving down Main Street and seeing 250 American flags waving in the high-desert breeze. That's the goal. That's the picture we want to paint for our neighbors, our children, and anyone passing through our towns this summer. One flag at a time, one home at a time. ## How To Complete It 1. 1 Get an American flag if you don't already have one. Local stores like Snowflake Ace Hardware, Walmart, and SharpShooters carry flags and mounting hardware. 2. 2 Choose where to display your flag — a porch-mounted bracket, a yard pole, or a window display all work great. Make sure it's visible from the street. 3. 3 Follow proper flag etiquette: display it from sunrise to sunset, or illuminate it if you fly it at night. Never let it touch the ground. 4. 4 Fly your flag from May 1st through at least October 10th to cover the full challenge period. 5. 5 Log your flag here to count toward our community goal of 250 flags across Snowflake and Taylor. ### Tips for Success - ★ If your flag is worn or faded, retire it properly — the local VFW Post 7400 accepts old flags for dignified disposal — and replace it with a new one for the summer. - ★ Teach your kids about the flag: the 13 stripes for the original colonies, the 50 stars for the states, and why we treat it with respect. - ★ Coordinate with your neighbors to fly flags together — a whole street of flags makes an incredible impression. - ★ A simple porch-mounted flag bracket is inexpensive and installs in minutes. It's a one-time investment you'll use for years. - ★ Share a photo of your flag flying with #SnowflakeTaylor250 on social media to inspire others to join in.
