# Bike 250 Miles

“Two wheels, one great community.”

250 miles

## About This Challenge

The open roads and wide skies around Snowflake and Taylor were made for cycling. Whether you're a seasoned rider who logs miles before sunrise or someone dusting off a bike that's been hanging in the garage, 250 miles is a meaningful and deeply achievable summer goal — and the scenery along the way makes every pedal stroke worthwhile.

Ride solo at sunrise, cruise the neighborhood with a friend on weekends, or get the whole family involved with an evening ride after dinner. Every single mile you pedal is a small personal celebration of freedom — the same freedom this nation has been built on for 250 years. You don't need to be an athlete. You just need to start.

Track your miles, build a routine, and watch the number grow over the summer. Log each ride here and share the journey. By October 10th, 250 miles will be behind you — and you'll be a stronger, healthier version of yourself because of it.

## How To Complete It

1. 1

Make sure your bike is road-ready before your first ride — check tire pressure, test the brakes, and lubricate the chain. A quick tune-up at a local shop is worth every penny.
2. 2

Plan a few routes in and around Snowflake and Taylor. Start short and comfortable, then gradually extend your rides as your fitness and confidence build.
3. 3

Download a free tracker like Strava or MapMyRide to log mileage automatically using your phone's GPS. These apps also let you celebrate milestones and connect with other riders.
4. 4

Ride regularly — short rides count just as much as long ones. Log each session and watch your total grow day by day toward that 250-mile mark.
5. 5

At each milestone — 50, 100, 150 miles — and especially the full 250, log it here and share a ride photo with #SnowflakeTaylor250.

### Tips for Success

- ★ Always wear a helmet, and use front and rear lights if you ride at dawn, dusk, or any low-light conditions.
- ★ Ride with a buddy when you can — it's safer, more motivating, and a lot more fun.
- ★ Start your rides before 8am to beat the Arizona summer heat. Early morning riding is one of life's great pleasures.
- ★ Stationary bike miles count if the weather is too extreme — don't let a brutal afternoon derail your streak.
- ★ Keep a small saddle bag with a tire repair kit, a spare tube, and a pump. Flat tires happen — be prepared.
